Please be advised that the age of majority in Honduras is 21 years old. Therefore, anyone under the age of 21 is considered a minor and may be required to present a travel authorization letter when entering the country alone or without both parents.
This document is strongly recommended for all minors, regardless of nationality, and may be requested at the discretion of Honduran immigration officials.
If the minor is traveling alone or with someone other than their parents, the letter must be signed by both parents.
If the minor is traveling with one parent, the letter must be signed by the non-traveling parent.
The authorization must be:
Notarized
Officially translated into Spanish by a certified translator
Authenticated by Global Affairs Canada or a provincial authority (e.g., Service Ontario)
Only once these steps are completed can the Embassy authenticate the document.
Important: This requirement applies to Honduran citizens, including children of one or both Honduran parents, even if the child holds a different nationality or has not yet acquired Honduran citizenship.
We strongly advise travelers to prepare this document in advance to avoid issues upon arrival in Honduras.
Starting January 11, 2024, Canada has joined the Apostille Convention. Therefore, Canadian documents can be apostilled by the Canadian government for use in the 124 member countries, including Honduras. This means that most documents will not require an apostille from our embassy to be valid in Honduras, and vice versa. If your document has already been apostilled by a local government entity and officially translated into Spanish, it does not require a Honduran apostille.
